A Wagon Made For Two

Once upon a time there was a little boy named Alex and a little girl named Sophia.

They were the best of friends.

Alex received a wagon for his birthday.

Their mommies couldn't resist taking them on a walk in the new wagon.

Oh what fun was had!

Sophia attended her first birthday party on Saturday. Our good friend and neighbor Alexander turned one!

Sophia had so much fun. It was a Backyardigan themed party. Sophia took home a Pablo and a Uniqua sippy cup and bowl, woot woot!

There was a crawling contest and Little Miss came in second! Can I hear another woot woot!!

Good job Jeannie on such a great first birthday party for your little man!!

Mommy And Me - Self Portrait

Sophia is napping and I thought I would get on here and do a quick post.

You have to forgive me this week for being a bit lazy.

I haven't had the time to browse all my favorite blogs. I apologize for not saying hello!

This week seems like I can't quite get a handle on life. The house has been a constant state of mess even though I feel like I am constantly cleaning and tidying. I feel like I have been running in circles and getting nowhere! I have failed on the exercise this week. I have the energy of a sloth! Whoa is me. Snap out of it already! Quick where is coffee or mmm Diet Pespi?

A couple days ago I went to the health clinic where Sophia gets her immunizations. My friend and I stopped in before heading to the mall to get our babies weight checked. Sophia was last weighed at her Dr's at 9 months. She weighed 17.5 pounds. In my head I was thinking Sophia weighed at least 20 pounds. Maybe even more. She seems so big to me these days. I get her undressed and place her on the scale press the magic button and lo and behold she weighs 17 pounds and 14 ounces. WHAAAATT! How can she have only gained a few ounces?!?!? My mouth became dry and guilt kicked in. It has been 2 long months and my baby basically weighs the same.

How is this possible?

Yes she is a finicky eater.

Yes she did go through a 'hunger strike' a while ago.

But still.

I know she has gotten taller. All her pants fit in length and are huge in the waist.

A problem I wish I had not my daughter!!

I know she is healthy. She is full of energy and is happy. She has radiant skin. She eats what she wants and as much as she wants. When she is done she is done. I do not force the situation.

She has her one year check up next month. As much as I wanted to run and scream towards the Doctors office I have resisted. With much talk from my sister and mom I now feel less stressed about the whole thing. I know she is healthy! Maybe just maybe she has a speedy metabolism and won't have the same curse I have in life with weight. I hope so.

I went out and bought a bunch of new foods that I hope Sophia will like. I gave her peanut butter yesterday for the first time. It went over ok, she gulped down milk with her PB sandwich. Cute.

Oh right I named this Post 'Mommy and Me - Self Portrait'. Here is why. We attempted yesterday to get a photo together. Remember how I can only get pictures of the top of Sophia's head. Well now when I do get a picture of her face...her eyes are closed. Lord have mercy.

HAHAHAHA So Funny!

Miss Independent - 11 Months, 2 Days

I am still in shock that my baby is only one month away from being a one year old!!

I look at her now and I see a toddler. No longer a baby. I am in denial.

As sad as I am that she is growing up fast. I love this stage...well every stage for that matter.

It is so fun to see her explore and learn new things. She has so much fun just playing on her own and chasing after Lilly.

Sophia is a very independent eater. I can no longer spoon feed her anything!! She has been like this for a month or so already. She has to do everything herself.

Yesterday was a perfect crisp fall day. We went on a long walk with my sister Sara and her dog. We walked up a big hill which overlooked the city. It was beautiful!

Here are a few pictures of the day and of my 11 month old baby girl!
(Get ready for a lot of pictures folks! I am making up for lost time!)

Chris Update!

I thought I would do a quick update on my husband Chris.

For those of you who don't know the saga click here and here.

Chris went for his first follow up MRI on Wednesday. This was his first MRI since having his radiation treatments. We will get the results and meet with his radiosurgeon on September 30th. I can't help but get a lump in my throat thinking about it. Last year when we thought we were going in for a routine follow up we had bad news and Chris had to have his second brain surgery. This time I know will be different since he had radiation to stop the tumor from growing larger again. It still scares me a bit because we know that nasty little mean tumor is still there invading his brain. We just have to keep it from growing.

So please say a prayer for Chris that the radiation has done it's job!

And as Forest says...that's all I have to say about that.

The loves of my life...

Let's Talk Pictures

As you know I have been failing in the picture taking department. Most of the reason why is because my subject matter doesn't know how to stay still anymore. I kid you not I have a billion pictures of the top of Sophia's head or shots of her bum as she quickly turns and crawls the other way.

Ahem for example...

Plus she is starting to act like an angry celebrity any time the camera is out.

However through the midst of her angst and speedy crawling I have caught a few gems. Gone are the days of posy posy pictures. Now I take what I can get.

They may include pictures of her eating her toy dolphin.
Cries of suffering would have been heard across the land if i dare try and take it away from her.

I will try and be sneakier in my picture taking. It is a tough challenge but I am up for it! I may look into getting a spy camera. I will hide behind my couch and wear a hat and sunglasses. She will never know. I am after all the MAMARAZZI!

Fun With Tracie

I just dropped off my good friend Tracie at the airport. She arrived on Thursday and we have had non stop fun! I'm a little tired out from all the fun we have had. We shopped till we dropped. Ate till we popped. And laughed till we cried.

The crazy part? I never took any pictures, not one. It's a little weird and so unlike me. Suddenly I fail in the picture taking department. Sadly I have no pictures of our awesome weekend. I can however show you a picture of what Tracie surprised me with...

It's Burberry Brit perfume. I had been lusting after this perfume. I would never have bought it for myself because most of what I spend my money on is all for Sophia. I am not complaining. I love shopping for Sophia. But this was a crazy, awesome happy surprise to receive. Thanks again Tracie you are such a doll!! I smell so good!

Speaking of dolls Tracie also surprised Sophia with a little treat!

Meet Dottie...

Sophia adores her and has little conversations with her. She is also Sophia's new roomie and they love to nap together. My friend Tracie has red hair so Sophia had to have a doll with red hair too!

This morning we went on one last shopping spree. I found this great little shoe store for kids. Sophia has outgrown all her shoes sadly. The store was so fun because they treated Sophia like a little adult. They measured her feet. She is a size 3. They also informed me that she has narrow feet (which I already knew). They made her try on the shoes and we "walked" around the store. Oh it was all just too cute for words really.

Here are little miss' new shoes...

I actually didn't buy shoes that are pink. Are you proud? They look so cute on her. I love them!

Why Do I Find These Soooo Funny?

I obviously have issues but I find these LOL cat pictures so darn hilarious. I think I may throw one in every once and a while just because they crack me up. My sister Sara will hate these. For some reason that makes it funnier to me. Sorry Sara be prepared...

Am I the only one cracking up?

Checking In

Hello all my dear blog friends and family.

Just wanted to let you know all is well in our household. I'm just taking a bit of a blogging break.

Sophia and I are enjoying our uneventful days. Tomorrow we are going to a place called Urban Treehouse with my church mommy friends. Now that Sophia crawls and gets around I am excited to take her. It's a place where moms can have coffee/gab and the babies can crawl and explore on all the fun, safe toys! Later in the day my friend Tracie from Vancouver is arriving to stay a few days. She is the friend who named me "Becks". Looking forward to chilling out with her!

Speaking of Becks. I just saw the movie trailer for 'Confessions of a Shopaholic' while watching the new 90210. (cringe yes I watched it...sorry Jen!) Anyways I loved all those books. Becky Bloomwood here I come. Also I saw 'The House Bunny' the other night with my girlfriends and had the best laughs. I don't know if it was just what I needed that night but I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. We sneaked candy in from the gas station and felt like we were 15...love those kinda nights!!

I have been horrible with taking pictures lately. I don't know what has gotten in to me.
