Lola and Lolo Visit

It has started.

The 'I'm only going to where what I want phase'.

Ok well its not that bad yet, but I see the future all to clearly.

The morning that Lola and Lolo were coming Sophia refused to put on any clothes besides her swimsuit.

How does this happen you ask? Well you place a basket of clean clothes on Sophia's floor.

Sophia spots 'the must have item' and refuses to wear anything else. She repeats NO to all other articles of clothing and pushes them away.

The fun has begun!!

(you can click on the images to make them bigger)

Sophia wore her swimsuit proudly all morning until Lola and Lolo arrived.
Then.....

Lola brought Sophia a 'Holly Hobbie' dress (as I call it).
Sophia loved her new dress and hat!

Then we ate cookies.

Life doesn't get much better!!
(p.s. i realize the spacing is all funky in this post, but frankly I am too tired and lazy to fix it.)

Canmore-ific!

Sophia and I spent last Friday and Saturday in Beautiful Canmore.

My sister Sara and her husband Dave live there and it always feels like a mini vacation when we visit.

They live at the base of the Rockies and the view they get to wake up to every day is insane.

They get to look out their windows and BOOM there's the mountains. It's breathtaking.

(They live even closer to the mountains then this picture, they are literally at the base)

We live only an hour away, but we live in the Prairies...pure flat land and big sky. So escaping to the mountains is awesome!! Every time we go I tell Sophia "this is what we call a tree".

The majority of the people who live in Canmore are extremely outdoorsy and super healthy granola types.

Sophia fits right in. All she wanted to eat when we were there was:

  1. sunflower seeds

  2. dried fruit

  3. blueberries
Although she was offered many, many other choices this was all she wanted. Sara and I kept saying Sophia you want some granola with that?

After her yummy seeds and berry meal we went for a hike. She hiked the whole time.

She is a Canmore girl for sure!

Attempt at a mommy daughter pic - they never seem to work out

Sophia making veggie pizza at the yummiest flatbread place known to man. They even have this cool area for kids to play and "make" their own pizza.

One more try...oh Sophia!

Haircuts And Dandelions

I took Sophia for her first "real" haircut today.

When she was 12 months I took her for a bang cut. Then I swiftly decided that although it was cute I wanted her hair to grow out to one length. I regretted cutting it.

Lately her hair has been all sorts of crazy. It had one side longer than the other and was getting scraggly.

I had the brilliant idea of taking her in to a kids hair place just to trim the edges and even the back out.

Why, why, why? Why do I put these crazy thoughts into my head? I need to just let things be, but that is not in my nature.

I am regretting the haircut. Sigh. Oh well.

She is still the darn tooten' cutest thing ever! I know her hair will grow out more even and into a little bob style.

So after the haircut trauma (it wasn't traumatic for Sophia she loved getting her haircut, in fact she didn't want to leave) we played in the backyard and had oh so much fun playing with dandelions.

(p.s. I realize I am being over dramatic)

I love this pic because her little tights are falling down and her cute pot belly!

stop chasing me ball!

Sky, mommy,sky!!!

(Sophia calls airplanes sky's. I'll explain that another day!)

These three are my favorite pics of the day! I love me some closeups!

Mommy Guilt, Bloggy Guilt

* I have been feeling guilty about the lack of activities for Sophia these days. I feel very couped up and am running out of ideas to keep her entertained. I was really good about doing fun things when she was smaller. I don't know what happened. So I signed us up for swimming lessons and monthly library story times. My guilty conscious was appeased.

*We started our swimming lessons today. We have both come down with colds and I thought about not going to our first lesson. But I decided to go ahead with it. BIG mistake! Sophia hated the class and was cold the whole time. I felt miserable and the guilt came creeping back.

*She has now been napping for 3 hours! Don't worry she is fine. I have checked on her 8 times. My mommy guilt is in overdrive.

*I think one of the reasons I have been uninspired with exciting activities is that I have no down time for myself and therefore have become lazy.

* So I have devised a new schedule for my life.

* Are you ready for it? I know it is truly riveting, edge of your seat stuff.

6:00am - 9am -*WORK (creep down to the basement with my laptop, so i don't wake anyone)

9:00 - 12:00 - Be an awesome mommy to Sophia.

12:00 - 2:00 - Sophia naps and I go to the **gym, clean up or do whatever the heck I want.

2:00- 5:30 -Be an awesome mom to Sophia, make fabulous healthy dinner, eat it.

5:30 - 7:15 - Evening playtime with daddy and mommy.

7:15 - Bath time fun.

7:30 - Sophia's bedtime. I crash on the couch and glare at the dirty dishes for the rest of the night.

*I used to work while Sophia napped.

**this is a new concept, but a really needed concept. Also, Chris works from home 80% of the time these days, I would NOT leave my child alone while she naps...obviously!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So this will leave me with some sort of "me"time. And maybe even a little blog time. I have tried multiple times to add videos to the blog of Sophia being super cute and me being super annoying in the background but apparently the files are ginormous and wont work. I will try and figure that out. I have stopped taking pictures and have taken videos but that doesn't do any good when I can't post them.

Must stop and go check on Sophia again, this long nap is freaking me out!
