Quote

I had to steal this quote from McMommy today.

Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body. ~Elizabeth Stone

This week has been one of the most challenging weeks of my mommy life. Sophia had another rough day. I am praying that tomorrow she starts to turn the corner and is able to laugh and play. My heart can't take much more!

Update!!

I took Sophia into the Doctors today.

My Doctor works only two days a week and to see her you have to book at least 3-4 weeks in advance.

This does not work when you have a baby!

I put on my "tough mom" act.

I told them that I needed to see a Doctor pronto and that I could not, would not bring her to the horrific walk in clinic again.

Wouldn't you know it they booked me in with another Doctor right away!

I have to use my "tough mom" act more often!!

The Doctor we saw was great.

Sophia has a bacteria infection.

She is now on antibiotics.

She has an earache, swollen soar throat, runny/stuffed nose oh and we can't forget swollen irritated eyes!!

My poor baby!!!

I am confident she is going to start feeling better soon now that she has started antibiotics.

I knew something was wrong when she was getting worse not better.

She is now snoring away cozy and safe in her room with a humidifier and gentle spa music.

Thanks for all the support and listening to me mope! I feel much better today.

Can't wait to post about happy things with happy pictures!

Not My Best Moments

When Sophia is sick I go into deer in headlights mode.

Before having Sophia I would have guessed that I would be super mom when my child was sick.

This is not the case.

I get so upset seeing her sick that I just want to curl up in the corner in the fetal position.

I don't know how mothers and fathers cope when their child is seriously ill.

I can't even imagine the pain. I hope to never imagine.

I am trying to be the best for Sophia. I know I am doing the best I can.

She has pink eye in both eyes now and a cold that won't quit.

She has barely eaten in 3 days. She is miserable.

Eye drops are sheer torture for her and for me. They should be outlawed.

She woke up from her nap today and wouldn't open her eyes she was in so much pain.

I think my heart broke in a million pieces.

I need my mommy.

Why do we live where no grandparents live??

Shorter But Not Sweeter

It's official.

Sophia has pink eye.

I won't discuss the atrocity that is the walk in clinic in my area.

Also,

eye drops... not fun.

Short and Sweet

.....just like Sophia.

Today's post will be short and sweet.

I start my training today for my old/new job.

I hope my brain still works in other areas besides being a mommy.

Sometimes I wonder. Has my brain gone to mush?

Yesterday I watched Alex. He was great...still working on Sophia.

Sophia has a cold and now I think she has a blocked tear duct. Her eye is a bit swollen and is leaky and gunky. Too much information? It was quite swollen before bed last night, made me feel a bit nauseous. (I get nauseous when I feel bad for my daughter, it's my heart hurting for her and in turn makes me feel nauseous ) It has gone down this morning. If it gets worse again I will take her in to the Dr.

Chris and I both woke up with a cold. Yay.

Sophia is now desperatley trying to get in my lap to destroy the computer so I must say adieu to you and you and you.

As of Late

Here we are January 22 and my little girl is 15 months and 9 days old!

I know I am repetitive on the subject but holy cow where did my baby go?!

Sophia no longer has any bottles, she eats with a fork (most of the time), has 8 teeth and counting, throws mini meltdowns, sleeps through the night (hallelujah!), has one nap a day, can communicate and get her point across by pointing and showing me what she wants. Does not want any bow, barrette or ribbon in her hair!! I am lucky to get a ponytail in some days!! She just pulls it all out! She loves Lilly and says 'Lilly' and tries to pick her up like a doll. Lilly on the other hand does not like it!!

She can't get enough of her babies! She always seems to have one in hand. She feeds them their bottles, brushes their hair, tries to put her shoes and socks on the babies. Last night she brought her favorite baby into the bath with her. She was holding her baby as I was filling up the bath. (She has to always be present as I fill the tub) I wasn't looking and in went her baby. Eeek I shrieked but then realized this particular baby can go in the bath and is quick drying. Yay for Grama Linda on getting Sophia this baby! Sophia held the baby all through the bath and got extremely annoyed when I tried to take baby away!

I just started watching my friends little boy once or twice a week. I started yesterday. Let's just say the little boy was an angel. Sophia on the other hand does NOT like sharing her toys, space or her mommy! I am happy I have this opportunity to take in Alex. It will teach Sophia how to share and let me get used to the idea of having two kids! Alex is a month older than Sophia so I have two little one year olds toddling around! I slept really good last night after a busy day!

I will most likely be taking on another part time job. When we first moved to Calgary my previous job let me work from home. I spoke with my old manager this week and they offered me a job too good to pass up! I will work around Sophia's schedule. It is mostly phone work, calling Realtors and clients connecting the two and being the follow up person. I can work when Sophia naps and on the weekends! I am actually excited to go back. I wasn't ready until now. I still am not ready to work away from home and not be with Sophia. I am too much of a wimp to leave her! I realize I am very lucky to have this opportunity!!

So between my watching Alex and my soon to be part time job I am going to be very busy!!

I don't have any new pictures... so for that reason I just snapped some pics of my sweet pea for your enjoyment! I still can't get a normal picture of her! She always makes a face and does not want her picture taken! I see my future years all to clearly!! Sophia is going to be quite the teenager!

Do you see my point?? Attitude!

We're Baaaack

Sophia and I are home sweet home.

Visiting my sister and nephew was fabulous!! I miss them already!

Sam is the funniest, giggliest, smartest little boy ever! I forget that he is just two...actually he will be two in a couple days! He is so smart and I am amazed how much he knows and does. He taught his little cousin lots of fun tricks and they had a blast together!!

Sam loves to bake, dance, play with play dough, do crafts, play trains, make forts, go swimming, oh and we can't forget he loves to watch the Backyardigans and Toopy and Binoo Binoo Binooo (as he calls it).

Here are the two cousins sharing in some fun activities together!

Playing a duet!

sharing a snack!

aquadoodling it up!

having a ride in the bucket!

sharing a yogurt drink!

my pretty girl!

playing a tune with auntie Gina!

Drawing with some WASHABLE markers! Genius!

Did I mention it was cold out?

Here is Sophia dressed up like the little boy from A Christmas Story!

We can't wait to see them again! Preferably in the summer!!

My Little Headbanger!

I told you she was a rockstar!!

Party Like A Rockstar ~ 2009

We rung in 2009 over at our friends Pam and Kurts house.

We were planning on just staying a few hours and get back home so Sophia could get to bed at a decent hour.

Little did I know our daughter liked to party like a rock star!!

Sophia had no problem staying up till midnight. She was more alert than I was when midnight came around.

We had a blast hanging out with the kids and playing rock band. I was so bad at the game but still had fun!

I was hoping because she was up soo late that she would sleep the rest of the night solid and sleep in. I was wrong. She woke every two hours thru the night and was ready to play by 7...I however was NOT!

The gang at midnight!

Me and the girls at midnight!

Sophia LOVES Elmo!

Alex pushing Taiya in her car

We are rock stars!!

Taiya's most adorable chair that Sophia loved to sit and read in!!

Here she is reading us a goodnight story!
