trick or treat

I used to never really care about Halloween.

It was my least favorite holiday.

But now, now that I have a two year old I love it!!

Every holiday and celebration is so bright, so fun, so joyous sharing it with Sophia!

Tonight for Halloween we headed to our good friends Jeannie and Wayne's house.

They moved about 30 minutes away to a small, quiet town.
I love it.

I felt like we were in a movie with all its small town charm.

This is Sophia's third Halloween but I feel like its her first. She was 2 weeks old the first time and last year she had the flu.

This year was a BLAST!!

i got a lovely email today from my aunt melanie asking of i still made my babybloom barrettes and if my etsy shop was still up and running.

to answer this question my etsy shop still exists...it just lays dormant waiting for me to fill it up!

i have been doing some pretty cute stuff lately.

I have generally given away most of the treasures that i have made.

this little treasure is a headband i made for sophia for her second birthday.

when the day came to wear her pretty pretty outfit she wasn't feelin it.

she wore the pretty skirt but we funked it up with striped tights and a hot pink sweater instead.

i think i will be filling my etsy shop with lots of headbands in bloom...

pretty pretty ones and funky funky ones!

This took me two minutes...

time to bring in the big girl bed

Today we took down Sophia's crib and replaced it with her big girl bed!

I had to hold back tears, I wasn't expecting to get so emotional about it.

Pretty soon she'll be hanging Hannah Montana posters, sniff.


But for now my little two year old loves her new bed...


...wearing a witch costume and all.

One day I hope to get her a sweet headboard and make her a cute bed skirt too.

I had previously made her the mini duvet cover for her crib. I just made her the plain white duvet cover (with my amazing serger!) and miraculously made 6 perfect button holes on my regular machine. I have never been able to make a good button hole...ever. Then while my mom was here visiting she introduced me to the "button hole foot", who knew?! Fabulous! I am gaining more and more confidence with my sewing skills!

On a side and sentimental note this is the bed that I bought myself when I was 18 and first moved out on my own.

I never imagined it would one day be my baby girls bed!

build-a-bear adventure

Last week Sophia got to go visit Build-A-Bear.

It was tons of fun!

Sophia built a bunny.

Her name is Pepper.

It was such a fun and special day.

The birthday girl woke up with a cold but she was a trooper.

Sophia loved her party and still asks where her cake is.

She asked to sleep with her life size Strawberry Shortcake balloon.

We compromised and the balloon got to hang out beside her crib.

Lola inherited 40 lbs of Sophia's baby clothes!

So now when i see all the cute photos of Lola I say aww and think I have a pic just like that of Sophia!

I will try and not be too silly about doing side by sides all the time but its too cute not too!!

You have to remember that Sophia was born almost 6 weeks early.

So in the bottom picture they are just about the same age according to Sophia's adjusted age.
